Flailing

Kaleidoscope, my workings are
like the duck's feet paddling
My brain refuses to stay calm
like an octopus struggling.

Intentional insights, I glean
from deep introspection
While undecipherable, they seem
Not amenable to subjection.

Lacerated heart bleeds
With a constant dull ache
There is no mend in sight
Here, happiness is at stake.

Optimism is the goal
Positivity my lifeline
While the world goes on
I crash down supine.

Fragile

I flinch, when I am happy
pinching myself to reality
A constricted panic builds
Reminded of my frailty

In an instant flips
hastily from joy to despair
the brain works in shrouds
At times without repair

A gaping hole exists
in this broken heart of mine
A void that shall remain
through the test of time.
