At crossroads in life,
I choose delight,
Feeling of warmth,
Pervades every cell.
Freeing the mind,
From burdens of unease,
Sounding so simple,
In reality profound.
Leathering oneself with,
Wracking sobs of agony,
Forlornly forgoing,
The sweet feeling of living.
Days are like chutney,
Laced well with the sugary,
Intertwined with the fiery,
But spice and flavor thrive.

Barrage of bliss
It rained wishes on her,
Deluge of goodwill forever,
Just an year older she was,
A day to look back, to pause.
Forty was a milestone,
To doubts, others'd be prone,
She was solid and sweet,
Staying so, not an easy feat.
Cakes and flowers showered,
From surprises, she recovered,
In the end, a day well spent,
A joyous year, it will cement.

Spooks and Spirits
A collective gasp, precludes,
But eerie silence prevails,
The clichéd pin drop extrudes,
Soon broken by the wails.
The dark silhoutte of ghosts,
Muted cries of the brood,
Surrounded by deep moats,
Danger here, viably brewed.
Ghoulishly forward specters,
Sucking the joyous souls,
Marked and signed as defectors,
All that remained were their howls.

An improbable trip
Glitter and glue took me
On a delayed voyage back
To childhood that was free
Incomparable to life now.
Skeletons in closet, none
That could come to bit,
But there wasn’t much fun.
With life’s whats to be done.
Elephantine fear about things,
Held me back from gaiety,
But soared away on the wings,
Of childish fertile imagination.

Machination
In my rusty language,
I strain for words,
Words to convey my love.
Rusty I had become,
In relationships,
A loner I lived as for
Far longer than I cared.
A strain this brought
In my love for her,
And hers for me.
A robot I had created
I become on with
A monster I turned it
And, it turned me!

Royal Nuptial
Splendid in display,
Restrained extravagance,
Regal attires in plenty,
Elegance in vogue.
Majestic, the key players,
Stately subdued in emotion,
Noble, the intent in all,
A modern fairy tale.

Wishes works
Belated today, I set out,
to commend dear little one,
She is one, I always tout,
She never ceases to stun.
A day to celebrate her birth,
Was bright and dawned pretty,
Was one of some lovely mirth,
Where we all sang her a ditty.
With love, she envelopes us,
With joy, she fills us with,
Handling every day with finesse,
The day, birthday, was her eighth.

Incensement
The sweet smell of incense,
A purpose does it serve?
Awaken the senses to prayer.
Force out the serenity.
Will it dame my mind
Enough to entrance it
Sufficient to coerce me
To break out into piety.
The fragrant fumes billowing,
Incenses me into deference,
Spirituality zealously guarded,
I lose myself in a stupor.

Spike over silk
The proverbial bed of roses,
Shunned by the daring breed,
The thrill of thorns fulfills
The ceaseless need for speed.
Normal is oft eschewed,
Audacity, the sought after creed,
Routine is balked at as dull,
Invigorating – life is to be decreed.

Return
A carpet of flowers
I’d love to spread,
To welcome you back,
To the sweet homestead.
Not missing the hooray,
A complete band brigade,
To celebrate this day,
With pomp and parade.

Super showdown
A scrimmage, I will witness hereafter,
The hype before, stayed much after,
The goosebumps accompany the thrill,
Stereotypes many it does instill.
A pizza, a big screen TV a few,
Beer and soda in many forms are due.
Gruff looking men reduced to tears,
Commercials are fun, it appears.
Yearly tradition, in homes a many,
Wintry distraction, it provides a plenty.
Passions fly in words and actions,
Together and rooting in factions.
Music, an interlude for all,
Crowds in passion, begin to sprawl.
In the end, winner is just one,
So, ending the season of fun.

Titanic
She loved him for an eternity,
Invisible, she however, had been.
Safe she felt in his vicinity,
Women then weren’t heard, just seen.
Decades ago it was, she lost count,
A shy smiling bride, she recalled,
Waiting for her groom to dismount,
Her friends, at his sight, enthralled.
She had hovered in shadows, forever,
Fishing around for his compliments.
Of respect to her, there was endeavor,
Of love, existed sporadic elements.
A second wind, she hoped to catch,
Past their prime, when they’d be.
Hoping now was just a random patch,
After all, together they were meant to be.
For her, love was just a salve.
To have her socks blown off,
She didn’t ever look to have,
Just enough, so no one would scoff.

Interchange
A conference room,
with temperatures freezing,
A stiff handshake,
And, then it began.
A flurry of questions,
Baring of inner souls,
The perpetual quandary
Always a baffling poser.
Do you tell the truth?
The modified truth?
The diguised truth?
or just plain lie?
Imminent in nature,
the necessity to speak up,
Befuddled I murmur,
Pulling myself together.
Giving them what they want
I simply sold my soul,
A flake, did I end up?
Isn't it after all, a job?
Now, on the other side,
I am an authority,
Not one to be deluded,
Unmasking them instantly.

Uneasy angst
This little life of mine,
Can it change in a blink?
It makes me pine,
And drives me to the brink.
Nothing to show for the years,
There is just painful sorrow,
Comparison with ones’ peers,
No hope left for the morrow.
One after another follows,
I am left picking pieces,
In the dark and dreary hollows,
Misery just increases.
Tension in the mind,
Eats away day-by-day,
I am on a quest to find,
Some peace and make it stay.
A weak moment, when health issues of a loved one were worrying; now slowly and surely positive signs are seen,
Can it change in a blink?
It makes me pine,
And drives me to the brink.

I survived
The day dawned bright,
Nagging fear, within slight,
Results and outcome I await,
Of the exam, to decide the fate,
At the time of the email,
Grimace I did, looking pale.
To clear the obstacle, would I fail?
Stumble or would I prevail?
A signal, positive, I asked
Fear I bravely masked,
And, then in the glory I basked,
This one I had surpassed!
Nagging fear, within slight,
Results and outcome I await,
Of the exam, to decide the fate,
At the time of the email,
Grimace I did, looking pale.
To clear the obstacle, would I fail?
Stumble or would I prevail?

Prismatic
A full rainbow, perchance I viewed
In its full splendorous seven
Be it a slit in the sky,
Or a bridge between earth and heaven.
I got my pot of gold,
My own, my very own.
I didn’t need the leprechauns
For seeds of my success are sown.
A promise I see it as, from above
A cleansed earth, by the rain
Embellished then, by the vibgyor
And, life thus shall remain.

Direct me, not!
Directions, are they any use?
I go my way, they go theirs.
Who in the world gets to say
This way to go and not that
To do as one’s pleasing,
Is what life’s about, ain’t it?
Would we then cease to be,
A visceral being isn’t so bad.
As creatures, to roam the world!
I go my way, they go theirs.
Who in the world gets to say
This way to go and not that

Marching on
Three strikes and I should be out.
I had many more and am still about.
Life isn’t a game, to say the least.
Trounce the hits, to beat the beast.
Won’t list everything that’s wrong.
Shift to positives and come out strong.
Serenity prayer plays on my lips.
Surge onward, not following scripts.

Disquieting disposition
As night nears, fear ensues,
The unknown, the trepidation
Life is bizarre, nay a narrative.
Normalcy I seek, I beseech
Shakespeare's world stage quote
Does not provide a good solace
A weight the size of a boulder
Hangs heavy on my head,
Trying in vain, to reassure I am
Triggers of alarm, are a few
A loved one in pain, is prime
Events, each, a part it plays.
Pinpricks, it shall remain,
To be rubbed away, and moved on,
For the positive end, I await.

Fourth of July Fete
Over and above the great peaks,
At night, were fiery sparks seen,
Freedom celebrated with pyrotechnics,
Illuminating the sky, was a bright scene.
Mountains, they moved, fighting for it,
With swords, guns and words in revolution,
Not giving up, nor surrendering in defeat,
For life and liberty were the solution.
Spangled with stars, was the great banner,
Heads held high, with happiness and pride.
Tradition dictates, celebration in this manner,
Two-Three-Four, of course, was a great ride!
