Keepsakes

A hockey puck, from the first date, they dared,
A plastic bottle, on their first trip, they shared,
A dirty handkerchief, which he wiped many a tear,
A crumpled note, which said he was very dear.
Just these are left, from their love before,
As he trudges along, aimless, like an unhinged door!

  1. Sometimes keepsakes can be good but, in this case I believe they serve as a reminder that he's left the relationship. Hope she finds some peace. Have a nice day.

  3. I like how you used the images in a natural progression, and then wrote a poem with a larger meaning.

  4. This was very touching and succinct. I think you captured the essence of keepsakes, very well.

  5. Wonderful variation on a list poem. I like the details and I can see the poor loser in the end. And I mean "loser" in an endearing way.

    See you next Thursday.
