Aging apathy

The body gradually weakens,
Mind, but remains nimble.
Patronizing behavior sets in,
Demeaning and degrading,
Relationships unwind.
Once the best, there ever was,
Now slowly begins to unravel.
Changes beyond one’s control,
Living transforms to existing
And life plunges into darkness.

Will we all age this way?

  1. Ageing can be a cruel thing. I'm fighting it - gently.
    Great words.

  5. This brought to mind the passing of loved ones. Which brought a tear to my eye, and smile to my mouth.

A nice, gentle touch to this.

  9. Live long enough, and I fear it would happen no matter what one did. Nothing wrong with trying to find out, though. Thankfully we know much more than we used to about maintaining good health.

  10. very nicely put JS, if we let our body rule the mind, this becomes true, what if it is the other way round?if we are young in spirit, age doesn't matter, does it?

  11. my first thought was not about aging, but of everything changing like a relationship falling apart. I'm glad you included aging.

  13. "Living transforms to existing"

This line seriously scares me - I am going to go for a run now, jump into the lake and swim all day - if only in my mind...

  16. Aging is inevitable and with that comes the wrinkles and degrading mind loss. Or, is it simply the way you choose to live? You've written well here. Have a great day.
